Can I use BlueTooth to engage and disengage my clutch?
In the world of outdoor power and mobile pumping equipment, operator convenience can be very important. Operator safety, productivity, and longer machine uptime with less maintenance is also important. Applications include power washers for roofs, tree and lawn sprayers, mobile conveyors, augers, insulation blowers, vacuum pumps, flood pumps, and more.
These machines are driven by gas- or diesel-powered engines. With an electromagnetic clutch, engagement and disengagement is normally controlled by a switch on the machine or in the vehicle cab. When power is applied, the clutch engages and the power from the engine is transferred to a rotating device such as a pump or auger. When electrical power is removed, the clutch disengages, and engine torque is no longer transferred.
In some applications such as power washers used for rooftop spraying, or tree and lawn sprayers, the equipment can be located far from the source of the work being done. For the power washer, if the pump is left running while the operator gets up to the working location, there could be lots of wasted water while the pump is running. Not only does it waste water, but it also costs money, can leave mud on the property, or create safety hazards. If the clutch is operated remotely through a Bluetooth device, then this will avoid those issues. For the tree and lawn sprayers, the same concept applies. It takes time to walk to the back yard of property to do the work. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to engage the clutch remotely?
Instead of, or in addition to the switch normally located on the equipment, a Bluetooth signal can be sent to the power controller to turn the clutch on or off. This can be designed by the equipment manufacturer. With the push of a button on an app, you can engage your clutch and get to work without worrying about a big muddy mess back at the equipment site.
Ogura MA Series clutches for smaller pumps are available in torques ranging from 58 to 175 lb. ft. For pumps requiring higher horsepower, the MMC Series are rated from 200 to 1500 lb. ft. A variety of bore sizes and pulley options are available from stock.
Ogura's General Purpose GT and MA series clutches range in torque from around 110 lb-ft to 400 lb-ft for engines ranging from 5 HP to 40 HP. Bore sizes for most models correlate to popular engine shaft sizes of 1" to 1.7/16" but custom designs can be made for the right quantity. Most mobile application clutches have 12V coils but other voltages such as 24V can be available for certain sizes and quantities. Soft start controllers are available for these clutches.
Benefits of using Ogura General Purpose and Pump and Compressor clutches:
