Ogura Industrial has created a new animation showing how electromagnetic multiple disc clutches work. The animation shows an exploded view of the component parts in the clutch and how they interact with each other. In electromagnetic multiple disc clutches, torque is generated by attracting both the armature and the multiple series of discs to each other to engage a drive cup, attached to a driven component. Multiple disc clutches are used on a variety of applications where high torque in a small space is required while still requiring engagement or disengagement, underload or speed. Many common industrial applications include industrial multi-speed gearboxes, automotive transfer cases and metal working machinery. The video can be found on Ogura`s website and on our YouTube channel HERE. Ogura has been producing clutches and brakes since 1938. Over that time, we have developed over 5,000 different models of clutches and brakes. Although Ogura primarily produces electromagnetic clutches and brakes, we also produce magnet particle, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and a variety of specialty products. Ogura is the world's largest manufacturer of electromagnetic clutches and brakes. Current manufacturing capacity is over 30 million units per year. To provide localized support, we have manufacturing plants spread throughout the world in Asia, The Americas, and Europe. All manufacturing facilities are ISO recognized and conform to the ISO 9001;2008, ISO 140001, and ISO/TS 16949.
